Jaqui Falkenheim

Jaqui Falkenheim is an abstract artist living in Arlington, VA.  She works in mixed media and creates her paintings by layering paint and collage, scraping and sanding, and painting layers back again. She responds to the painting as she works and builds its surface and history in the process. She makes her own collage papers with non-traditional materials and uses image transfers from her own photos to add personal texture to the artwork. Falkenheim’s art practice is process-based: she starts with colors and shapes and the inspiration she gets from making art feeds into the process of art-making itself. She wants the results to convey a feeling of playfulness and joy to the viewer.  

Her work has been juried into exhibitions at the Target Gallery in the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia; Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, and other local venues. Her prints are sold by West Elm and Minted.
