Joe Spollen

Joe Spollen has worked as a graphic artist and illustrator for over 25 years. He completed the George Washington University’s Brittany Program in 1979 and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1980. While studying art in France, he first became aware of pastel painting and has continued his dedication to this artistic media to the present day. His pastels offer a combination of his life-long passion for drawing with the spontaneity achieved through the execution of “pure” color.

In 1997, while employed as a designer at the Institute of Heraldry, he began teaching pastel painting at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia. Through his association and participation in VECCA workshops, he expressed an interest to teach a pastel workshop for VECCA.
